PHL Covid-19 Fund Donation Platform
Raises $18,500,000

The Challenge

The COVID-19 pandemic had impacts on everyone, from every walk of life. But some populations were more affected and more vulnerable than others.

The Philadelphia Foundation created a fund to help the most at-risk populations in the region, but they needed a web portal that would allow them to share information about the fund and collect donations safely.

The Solution

The portal for the PHL COVID-19 Fund would need to support the ability to accept donations online, as well as provide information to the public about the fund and associated events. Additionally, the foundation planned a celebrity online benefit concert that was integrated into the website and live streamed to viewers from home.

As the foundation’s technology partner, Curotec was there to help. Working with Philadelphia Foundation and their partners for the initiative, a new microsite was built by Curotec to support the COVID donation fund and related awareness campaigns.

The entire site was built on a scalable cloud environment to effortlessly handle highly fluctuating traffic patterns. The concert required coordination with several television networks, and Curotec ensured that the site could scale for the influx of visitors who would be tuning in to the benefit show.

The Results

In the six months after launch, the Philadelphia Foundation’s PHL COVID19 Fund was able to raise $18.5 million to support the urgent and pressing needs of the community in the wake of the pandemic.
