Spence Varadi is a Product Owner who works with software product focused companies and enterprise teams. After delivering projects managed through works for hire, Spence has transitioned into managing fully integrated business groups where he continues to promote a shared product vision for his client. Spence leads requirements gathering and Scrum backlog refinement with a behavioral focus. He specializes in the application of industrial-organizational psychology and human-computer interaction concepts to create and refine user experience and interface design. Spence draws inspiration from both research and ongoing stakeholder feedback to create elegant platforms for power users and novices alike. Spence found an inclination during his college years for technology as he built tools to handle problems on odd jobs ranging from psychometrics, home automation, robotics, and small business operations. Ever curious and practical, you can count on a better understanding of the solution with him in the room.
When not stirring acronym soup, you can find Spence playing board games like a nerd, cooking exotic food he fails to pronounce properly, and playing around with new programming languages for fun. He hails from Pittsburgh, which he gladly welcomes you to hold against him. Spence enjoys hiking, shooting sports, and cooking–often in that order. His favorite ice cream is pistachio, his favorite book is House of Leaves, and his favorite board game is Catan. The only way he can keep a plant alive is with an automated garden.
